Quality Improvement
Internal Quality Assessment Cell
To further its mission of evaluating, assessing, accrediting, and ultimately elevating the quality of higher education institutions, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) proposes a strategic initiative. Following accreditation, all institutions will be required to establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). This permanent body serves as a crucial measure to ensure the continued pursuit of excellence after the initial accreditation process.
Recognizing quality enhancement as an ongoing endeavor, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) will permanently integrate itself within the institution's framework. This ensures a sustained pursuit of excellence. The IQAC's primary function is to establish a system that fosters deliberate, enduring, and transformative improvements in the institution's overall effectiveness. Following accreditation, the IQAC will act as a central channel, directing all institutional efforts and initiatives toward achieving holistic academic excellence.
Objectives
The IQAC's goals can be summarized in two points:
Systematic Improvement
The IQAC's primary function is to establish a system that fosters deliberate, enduring, and transformative improvements in both the academic and administrative performance of the institution.
Culture of Quality
The IQAC also promotes initiatives that cultivate a culture of quality within the institution and embed best practices into its operations, ultimately enhancing institutional functioning for quality improvement.
Strategies
The IQAC also works to ensure:
Streamlined Institutional Operations
Timely, efficient, and progressive performance across academic, administrative, and financial tasks.
Modernized Learning Environment
Optimization and integration of modern methods for teaching, learning, and evaluation.
Robust Support Systems
Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance, and functioning of the institution's support structure.
Functions
The IQAC's multifaceted approach encompasses the following key objectives:
- Benchmarking: Developing and applying quality benchmarks/parameters to assess various academic and administrative activities.
- Learner-Centered Environment: Facilitating the creation of a learning environment that prioritizes student needs and fosters quality education. This includes empowering faculty with the knowledge and technology to adopt engaging, participatory teaching methods.
- Stakeholder Feedback: Establishing mechanisms to gather and address feedback on quality-related processes from students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge Dissemination: Spreading information on various quality parameters in higher education to promote continuous improvement.
- Knowledge Sharing: Organizing inter- and intra-institutional workshops, seminars, and quality circles to foster knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices.
- Quality Improvement Documentation: Documenting various programs and activities undertaken to enhance institutional quality.
- Centralized Quality Coordination: For coordinating all quality-related activities, it acts as a center body including the adoption and dissemination of best practices.
- Data-Driven Improvement: Developing and maintaining institutional databases through Management Information Systems (MIS) to support data-driven decisions for quality enhancement.
- Culture of Excellence: Cultivating a culture of quality within the institution.
- Accreditation Reporting: Preparing the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) following NAAC guidelines and parameters, to be submitted for accreditation purposes.
Benefits
